Greystone is in the heart of the North Carolina mountains, with easy access to surrounding cities. Hendersonville, NC is 15 minutes away and has pretty much everything you will need from town: banks, food, restaurants, ice cream shops, etc. Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC are about 45 minutes away; they have great walkable downtowns, tons of restaurants, and awesome art and music scenes.

Our Full Summer Staff must be at least one year out of high school in order to be considered for a position. However, we do hire recent high school graduates to work at our one-week Junior Camp!

If you are applying for a full summer position for the first time, we ask that you work all three sessions (June, Main and August camps) unless you have a school date conflict. We do consider single-session commitments for June or August Camp for certain activity areas if you can also attend our staff Orientation. If you are interested in only working June Camp, we may also encourage you to also work our one-week Junior Camp We are happy to talk through your summer availability - just contact us!

You may also apply for Junior Camp only, in which you will not work the full summer, but just that one-week starter camp. You can read more about our different session options and their date requirements here.

We are looking for counselors who have a strong, personal relationship with Christ and who love children first and foremost. The counselors we hire are hardworking, resilient team players who are excited to join our community and dedicate their summer to service and growth. Greystone counselors are responsible role models who can also be silly and have fun with our campers! All different types of people can succeed as counselors, so if these traits sound like you, we’d love to talk to you more.

At camp, we value hard work. Our pay is competitive in the camping industry, something we are proud of! We offer a substantial full-summer bonus and additional pay for years of experience, certifications, and job responsibilities. This document details our weekly pay rates for 2025.

Depending on your position at camp, you will either live in a cabin with campers or in a cabin with fellow counselors. Our cabins are lovely; while maintaining their camp “charm”, they still have everything you need (including bathrooms!) to ensure that you will be comfortable in your home away from home.

You can read more about these roles here, but if you are a female counselor on our Full-Summer Staff, you could be placed on either Cabin Staff or Program Staff at any session throughout the summer. We’ll ask for your preferences, but we take each staff member and each cabin into consideration when placing counselors in their roles for each session. We ask that all staff come in ready to serve in either role joyfully!

Yes, you can! Having a car at camp is great, but not necessary. On your days off, it is nice to have a car to explore the area, but many counselors love to share rides into town!

We love your individuality and so should you! For our Greystone staff dress code, we do ask you to cover your tattoos, and for our female staff to only wear one piercing in each ear. We ask our Men Staff to keep their hair short, facial hair tidy, and to not wear any earrings.

Camp Greystone is a drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free camp. Nothing is more important than our campers and their safety, and we want nothing to distract from their experience. Because they are our priority, you may not use any alcohol, tobacco, or drug products while you are employed with Greystone.

As a camp counselor, you will be a role model. We ask that all of our staff conduct themselves in a Christ-like way while you are employed by Greystone and that extends to your social media accounts.
