Glass Arts is one of the most popular (and unique!) classes that Greystone offers. Located in its very own building, Glass has a state-of-the-art facility complete with 18 torches for bead making and a full glass fusion studio! Our program is run by a professional, local glass artist. Counselors will teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced campers throughout the summer.
Glass Arts begins each class with general instruction for that day’s project. Once the demonstration is given, campers are then given independent time to complete their creations!
As part of the Glass Arts staff, you will be an essential part of a close-knit team that will balance safety with fun. Our Glass Arts staff encourages and engages with our campers throughout the class, helping them to achieve their goals and surpass their expectations. You will love working on our Glass Arts staff if you enjoy encouraging those around you while also having a keen eye for safety and detail.
For June, Main, and August Camps, we have 5 classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon that are 40 minutes long. In Glass Arts, after the girls are in their stations, they will receive instruction on that day’s project and are challenged to finish that project before the bell rings.
Our Glass Arts staff participates in pre-camp training led by a local professional that focuses on teaching strategies and studio safety. This training will take place at Greystone.
Greystone is so much more than just a fun summer job. Here you’ll work hard and navigate challenges in a supportive environment, growing as a leader and as a professional. Invest in your future with a summer at camp!
Room and board, support and development, an incredible location in the mountains of North Carolina, staff giveaways (that are above and beyond the industry!), and the community of a lifetime.
Yes. Our pay is competitive with the surrounding camping industry. We also cover any outside training fees, as well as offer recruiting incentives and a $600 bonus for working all summer.
There are two camp counselor staff options. You can be on the Full-Summer Staff or the Junior Camp Staff. Full-Summer Staff work our full 11-week summer, while Junior Camp Staff work our one-week session at the beginning of the summer.
Staff have a day off during the middle week(s) of each sessions in addition to time off in between each session. We also give our counselors additional time off during the week, as well as some evenings off throughout each session.
Full-Summer Staff are at Greystone from May 26th-August 8th, and Junior Camp Staff are here May 20th-May 30th. However, we do allow for school exemptions, so please reach out and we can work with your schedule.
