A Day at Camp

Apply Now

A day at camp is busy, fun, and full in the best way!

Our counselors serve in countless ways and can be found working in all areas to help camp run smoothly.

While every day is a little bit different (at camp, we expect the unexpected!), this is what a typical day looks like in the life of a Greystone counselor.

7:30 a.m.: Reveille blows to start the day and the fun begins! Cabin Staff help campers get ready and oversee the cleaning of the cabin. Program Staff get ready and head to the Dining Hall to help with breakfast setup.

8:05 a.m.: Everyone gathers to raise the Flag and enjoy a big breakfast. All counselors sit at tables with campers to serve the meal and clean up. Jimboy then leads us in Breakfast Club where we start the day with some inspiration and a funny joke.

9:15 a.m.: It’s time for praise and worship and a devotion from our camp minister at Morning Assembly. All counselors help with teaching songs, dancing with campers, or occasionally leading the morning devotion.

9:50 a.m. - 1:10 p.m.: Campers attend their morning activities, taught by incredible counselors like you! You will teach five classes in the morning, and most counselors stay in the same activity area throughout the day. You’ll get very good at teaching it!

1:20 p.m.: Lunch. Counselors are back at their tables to catch up with campers and assist with the meal. Don’t forget to swing by the famous Greystone salad bar!

2:30 - 3:30 p.m.: Campers and Cabin Staff head back to their cabins for Rest Hour. Program Staff and Men Staff occasionally serve by helping with a job, or they have the time to rest. This is one of the best parts of the day!

3:50 - 5:10 p.m.: We have two class periods in the afternoon. Campers pick their own activities at Greystone, so the girls coming to your class can’t wait to try it out!

5:10 p.m.: Free period and cabin clean up. Cabin Staff head back to their cabins to help campers move through the shower line and do their daily jobs. Inspection happens twice a day! Program Staff and Men Staff finish cleaning up in their activity area and might have time to squeeze in a shower.

6:05 p.m.: We gather around the flagpole again to lower the flag and then enjoy supper together. Sometimes after dinner, we open our Shoppe, where campers and staff can grab a sweet or salty treat before having a “DMC” (Deep and Meaningful Conversation). Program Staff run our Shoppe - it’s one of their favorite jobs!

7:30 p.m.: Evening Program is a highlight of every day! Whether we’re enjoying a decades-old Greystone tradition or a brand-new surprise event, you know it’s going to be fun. Our staff plays a big part in pulling off the magic of our EPs!

9:00 p.m.: Call to Quarters blows and everyone heads back to their cabins to get ready for bed (and maybe have a dance party!). Cabin Staff help the girls settle down in the cabins while Program Staff and Men Staff finish up their jobs for the day.

9:20 p.m.: All lights are out, and Cabin Staff give a devotion before tucking each girl in for the night. Program Staff and Men Staff have free time after their jobs and meetings are done.

9:30 p.m.: Taps blows and all is quiet across camp. It’s time to rest up for another great day at Greystone tomorrow!
