Wood Burning is new to Greystone! Located in our Art Barn, and neighbors with High Adventure, High Ropes, Slacklining, Yoga, and Glass, we are so excited to see campers fall in love with the art of Wood Burning! Counselors will be teaching beginner skills in Wood Burning - no need for training, we will get you all set!
Wood Burning begins each class with a quick demonstration and explanation of what the class will be working on that day. Campers are then given 40 minutes to complete the project or practice the skill that was just learned.
As part of the Wood Burning staff, you will be an intricate part of a close-knit team that will balance safety with fun. Our Wood Burning staff encourages and engages with our campers throughout the class, helping them to achieve their goals and surpass their expectations. You will love working on our Woodburning staff if you enjoy encouraging those around you while also having a keen eye for safety and detail.
For June, Main, and August Camps, we have 5 classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon that are 40 minutes long. In Wood Burning, after the girls are at their perspective stations, they will receive instruction on what project they will be doing that day, and are challenged to finish said project before the bell rings.
You don’t need a thing! We will teach you everything you need to know!
Greystone is so much more than just a fun summer job. Here you’ll work hard and navigate challenges in a supportive environment, growing as a leader and as a professional. Invest in your future with a summer at camp!
Room and board, support and development, an incredible location in the mountains of North Carolina, staff giveaways (that are above and beyond the industry!), and the community of a lifetime.
Yes. Our pay is competitive with the surrounding camping industry. We also cover any outside training fees, as well as offer recruiting incentives and a $600 bonus for working all summer.
There are two camp counselor staff options. You can be on the Full-Summer Staff or the Junior Camp Staff. Full-Summer Staff work our full 11-week summer, while Junior Camp Staff work our one-week session at the beginning of the summer.
Staff have a day off during the middle week(s) of each sessions in addition to time off in between each session. We also give our counselors additional time off during the week, as well as some evenings off throughout each session.
Full-Summer Staff are at Greystone from May 29th-August 11th, and Junior Camp Staff are here May 23rd-June 2nd. However, we do allow for school exemptions, so please reach out and we can work with your schedule.
